Rowan studio storefront on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy

Since 2016

A ten-space studio on Gertrude Street.

Reformer strap and prop detail at Rowan

Almira Vance opened Rowan after six years teaching in London and Melbourne studios.

She wanted a studio small enough that a teacher could still correct everyone’s form in a fifty-minute class — which is why Rowan has stayed at ten spaces a class since day one, even as the timetable filled out around it. Tomas Reyes and Almira Sol joined in the years after, each building out a discipline the studio didn’t teach yet: reformer strength and jump board work, then slow flow yoga and mobility.

Meet the teachers

What hasn’t changed since 2016.

Ten spaces, never more

Every class on the timetable is capped so a teacher can actually watch every person in the room.

Taught, not just led

New members start on Foundations Mat or the free intro class — nobody is handed a reformer without an explanation first.

A timetable built for a week that moves

Early classes, midday express sessions, and evening yoga — the studio is open for whichever week you actually have.
