Mysuru : The Mysore District Brahmins Association under the leadership of the Krishnaraja MLA Srivatsa took out a protest rally here on Saturday against the examination officials of Bidar, Bengaluru and Shivamogga districts where the Brahmin students were forced to remove the sacred threads to appear for the CET examination.

The procession was started from the Agrahara Circle up to Krishnaraja Police Station where they submitted a memorandum urging the state government to take stern action against those who denied permission to write the CET examination with the sacred threads in some exam centers and the cutting of the sacred thread in other examination centres.

Addressing the gathering, Srivatsa termed it as an inhuman act and a brutal insult to the Brahmin students. He said it was the common practice for the Brahmin boys to wear the sacred threads after the upanayana, and not knowing about it showed their sheet ignorance. The officials who were responsible for this must be suspended and reexamination must be done for those students who could not wrote the examination due to the alleged act of ignorance of the examination officials.
