"ಹೋರಾಟಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವೈಫಲ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ನಾವು ಕಲಿಯಬೇಕು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕನಸುಗಳನ್ನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡಬೇಡಿ, ತೊಂದರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಬೇಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಹೊಸ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳ ಹುಡುಕಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಿರಿ" ಎಂದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲರಾದ ಥಾವರ್ ಚಂದ್ ಗೆಹ್ಲೋಟ್ ಅವರು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮುಕ್ತ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ 20ನೇ ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. "ಮಹಾನ್ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಆಲ್ಬರ್ಟ್ ಐನ್‍ಸ್ಟೈನ್ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ "ಸೋಲು ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲು". ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಲು-ಗೆಲವು ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ. ಸೋತರೆ ಕುಗ್ಗಬಾರದು. ಅದನ್ನೇ, ಗೆಲುವಿನ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲು ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯಿರಿ" ಎಂದರು.
"ವಿದ್ಯಾವಂತ ಯುವಕರು ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಧನಾತ್ಮಕ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ತರಬಲ್ಲರು. ಯುವಜನತೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುತ್ತಿರಲಿ - ಅದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ, ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ, ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ, ಕಲೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವೆಯಾಗಿರಲಿ, ಅವರ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳಿಂದ ದೇಶವು ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಸಾಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂದಿನ ಯುಗವು ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯ ಯುಗವಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಯುಗವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆ (AI), ಡೇಟಾ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಧಾರಿತ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳು ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಆಯಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಕಲಿಕೆಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನಾವೀನ್ಯತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾವು ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಬೇಕು. ಒಬ್ಬ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ, ಹೊಸ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯುವ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಯಕತ್ವದ ಸಾಮಥ್ರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು" ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
"ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮುಕ್ತ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯವು ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ದೂರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಲಿಕೆಯ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿದೆ, ಅವರ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರ ಆಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಲು ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದೆ." ಎಂದು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು.
"ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಪೆÇೀಷಕರನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಬೇಕು. ಇಂದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಪೆÇೀಷಕರು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ, ಸರಿಯಾದ ದಿಕ್ಕನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ, ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಪಾಲಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸಿ, ಹೋರಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ." ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯದ ನಂತರ ದೇಶವು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭೂತಪೂರ್ವ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಶದ ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆಯು ಪ್ರಬಲವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆಯು ವಿಶ್ವದ 5 ನೇ ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಸರ ಅಸಮತೋಲನವು ಗಂಭೀರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಪರಿಸರದ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ನೀರು, ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಯು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ." ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
"ಈ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಪಡೆದ ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಮುಂಬರುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯ ಮೂಲವಾಗಿರಿ ಮತ್ತು "ಏಕ್ ಭಾರತ್ - ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಭಾರತ" ಮತ್ತು "ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬಿ ಭಾರತ" ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಹಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿ" ಎಂದರು.
"ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿವೇಕಾನಂದ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು - "ಎದ್ದೇಳಿ, ಎಚ್ಚರಗೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸುವವರೆಗೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಡಿ" "ಒಂದು ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿ." ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿವೇಕಾನಂದರು " ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಯುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯೇ ಆಧಾರ ಎಂದು ನಂಬಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಯುವಕರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬಿ, ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದರು. ಅವರ ತೋರಿದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು. “ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವು ಜೀವನದ ಬಹುದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯಾಗಿದೆ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವು ಉದ್ಯೋಗದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನಮಗೆ ನೈತಿಕತೆ, ಸಹಾನುಭೂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಸಹ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳು, ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬುವ ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವಾಗಿದೆ" ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಜ, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಹಿತಾಸಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಶದ ಹಿತದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸಿ.ಎಂ.ಇರ್ಫಾನುಲ್ಲಾ ಷರೀಫ್, ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ.ದಾಕ್ಷಾಯಿಣಿ ಎಸ್.ಅಪ್ಪಾ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಪದವಿ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅವರ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಆಶಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot urged students to embrace challenges and strive for success at the 20th convocation of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) held today. Encouraging graduates to never give up on their dreams, he emphasized that struggles and failures are stepping stones to achievement.
Citing Albert Einstein’s words, the Governor stated, “Failure is the stepping stone to success.” He reminded students that victories and setbacks are part of life, urging them to see every challenge as an opportunity for growth.
Highlighting the role of youth in shaping society, Shri Gehlot remarked, “Educated youth drive national progress, whether in science, technology, business, arts, or social service. In today's digital era, where AI, data science, and advanced technologies are redefining the world, innovation and adaptability are key to success.” He emphasized the need for continuous learning, creativity, and leadership development.
The Governor commended KSOU for its commitment to education through distance learning, which has empowered countless students in achieving their personal and professional aspirations.
Addressing students, he urged them to respect their teachers and parents, acknowledging their invaluable role in their success. “Teachers guide and inspire you, while parents and family stand by you through every struggle. Their support is the foundation of your achievements,” he said.
Speaking on India's remarkable post-independence progress, Shri Gehlot highlighted the nation's position as the world’s fifth-largest economy. He also stressed the importance of environmental conservation, urging collective efforts in protecting water, forests, and air.
Encouraging graduates to contribute to nation-building, he called upon them to embody the ideals of “Ek Bharat – Shresta Bharat” and “Swavalambi Bharat.” Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is achieved,” inspiring students to pursue their ambitions with dedication and perseverance.
During the convocation, Shri C.M. Irfanullah Sharif and Dr. Dakshayini S. Appa were honored with honorary degrees for their outstanding contributions to society. Congratulating them, the Governor expressed hope that their work would continue to inspire and benefit the nation.
