At a pre-release event for the upcoming film Gowri, held at a mall in Koramangala on Sunday evening, ‘Real Star’ Upendra was thoroughly impressed by the debutant pair Samarjit Lankesh and Sanya. Speaking highly of them, Upendra remarked, “What we call cuteness is actually innocence, and you can see that in both of their faces. With looks like these, Samarjit might soon be headed for Bollywood or even Hollywood. The Kannada audience must make sure he stays back in Sandalwood.”

Turning his attention to Sanya, Upendra expressed his admiration for her eloquence. “You speak so well that it’s hard to believe you’re a newcomer. The new generation is coming in well-prepared, and there’s so much we can learn from them,” the veteran actor-director added.

Set to release on August 15, Gowri marks the debut of Samarjit, son of director Indrajit Lankesh and grandson of the celebrated Kannada writer, journalist, and filmmaker Lankesh. The elder Lankesh is one of only three Kannada directors to have won the National Award for Best Direction, which he earned for his debut film Pallavi in 1976. Sanya, who gained fame as a child artiste in the television soap Putta Gowri Maduve, also makes her debut as a leading lady in this film.

“This is a beautiful pair entering Sandalwood, and it’s up to the audience to support them,” said Upendra. “Indrajit has a history of making visually stunning films, and this one will be no exception. His execution is of international quality. Let’s all watch this film on the first day and ensure the success of these newcomers.”

The film’s trailer, released last week, features Samarjit as a rustic villager on a mission to win a music competition, showcasing his versatility in acting, dancing, and action sequences. The trailer has been well-received, with many seeing Samarjit as a potential star in Kannada cinema. Indrajit has left no stone unturned in promoting the film, and the team hopes that August 15 will be a lucky day for both father and son.
