Governor of Karnataka Calls for Environmental Stewardship and Educational Advancement at Tumkur University Convocation

 Tumkur:– Karnataka Governor Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot addressed the 17th convocation of Tumkur University, emphasizing the critical need for environmental preservation and the transformative role of education. Governor Gehlot highlighted the pressing issue of environmental imbalance, urging a collective effort to protect and enhance the environment. He saod that “A Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign, advocating for tree planting as a significant step towards environmental conservation. He emphasized that, akin to a mother nurturing her children, trees should be cared for and preserved.

Reflecting on India’s rich educational heritage, the Governor noted that ancient institutions such as Nalanda and Taxila set a global standard for learning. He underscored the pivotal role of technical education in advancing human resources and improving quality of life. He urged researchers and experts to stay ahead of rapid technological advancements and contribute to the “Made in India” and “Make in India” initiatives to drive national development.

Governor Gehlot also highlighted the importance of educational institutions in bolstering India’s economy, which is now the fifth largest globally. He stressed the need for continued efforts to strengthen the economy and position India as a leading developed nation.

In his address, the Governor commended Tumukur University for its efforts in broadening educational access and congratulated the graduating students. He expressed hope that the accomplishments of honorary doctorate recipients would inspire future generations to serve society.

The convocation ceremony was attended by Minister Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, former ISRO Chairman Dr. A.S. Kiran Kumar, Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Venkateswaralu, District Commissioner Smt. Shubha Kalyan, and CEO Prabhu G.V.
