Belgaum : — At the 24th Convocation of Visvesvaraya Technical University in Belgaum, Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, emphasized the crucial role of youth in advancing India’s position on the global stage. Addressing a gathering of students, faculty, and dignitaries, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot highlighted the pivotal contributions of technical educational institutions to India’s economic development and outlined a vision for the country’s future.
Governor Gehlot lauded India’s impressive economic growth, noting that the nation is currently the world’s fifth-largest economy. He urged concerted efforts to further strengthen this position and to elevate India among the leading developed nations globally. “India has made remarkable strides in economic development, scientific research, technological innovation, industrial growth, and educational reforms. As we advance towards becoming a developed nation, it is imperative for our youth to be actively involved in this transformative journey,” he said.
In his address, the Governor praised India’s achievements in space research and technology, citing successful lunar and Mars missions as examples of the country’s growing global prominence in science and technology. He underscored the significance of these advancements in supporting the ‘Made in India’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives, which aim to foster a unified and prosperous India.
Governor Gehlot stressed the importance of technical education in creating a skilled workforce essential for national development. “In an era marked by rapid technological change, it is essential for our researchers, scientists, and experts to remain vigilant and adaptable. Our youth possess the potential and resolve to drive progress and innovation. As Swami Vivekananda once said, ‘Arise, awake, and do not stop until the goal is achieved.’ This spirit will be instrumental in our collective effort to advance the country,” he stated.
Reflecting on India’s historical legacy as a center of learning with institutions like Nalanda, Taxila, and Vikramashila, Governor Gehlot reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to global brotherhood and environmental stewardship. He called for collective action to address environmental challenges and promote the conservation of natural resources.
