Bangalore (Karnataka Information):
The Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, released the book "Jaina Purana Part-3 Acharya Charitra" at an event organized by the All India Jain Forum in Bangalore.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Gehlot emphasized the importance of religious literature in preserving and transmitting religion, culture, rituals, and traditions across generations. He stated, "Our religious texts discuss in detail important topics such as religious principles, morality, social service, and enlightenment."
The Governor highlighted the significance of religion in maintaining societal order, stating, "Religion plays an important role in keeping society organized. It influences individuals religiously, socially, and spiritually, fostering a sense of unity. The principle of 'Ahimsa paramo dharma' holds special importance in Jain philosophy, teaching compassion for all living beings."
Governor Gehlot appealed to the younger generation to embrace and promote religion and culture. "I appeal to the young generation especially, to embrace religion and culture, promote and preserve them, and work in the interest of the country and the public. Let us strive for world peace and welfare by sharing in each other's happiness and sorrows, making the thought 'Let everyone be happy, let everyone be healthy' meaningful," he said.
Commenting on the newly released book, Governor Gehlot said, "Jaina Purana Part-3 is useful for all. Having read Jaina Purana Part-1 and 2, I found them inspiring and beneficial. The religious administration of Lord Mahavira Swamiji, the last of the twenty-four Tirthankaras of Jainism, remains active today. After Mahavira Swami, Sri Sudharma Swami rose to the post of Acharya, becoming the first Acharya. The life, public utility, and self-help activities of these Acharyas are described in Jaina Purana Part-3 Acharya Charitra."
Governor Gehlot also remarked on the broader message of Jain philosophy, emphasizing the principles of truth, non-violence, celibacy, and living without hatred. "World peace and welfare can be achieved through the divine messages of Bhagwan Sri Mahavira Swamiji, the last Tirthankara of Jainism. Our protection from religion—Dharma Rakshati Rakshata. The tradition of religion is continued by religious masters. I congratulate the Editor of Jaina Purana, Shri Devi Lal Sakhalecha, and the Editorial Board for their dedicated work in this regard."
He also appreciated the social, religious, cultural, moral, and charitable works done by the All India Jain Manch, Bangalore.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Kamal Sipani, Mahendra Munath, Dharmchand Bombki, All India Jain Forum President Devilal Sakhalecha, and Retired Wing Commander Dr. P. Sakhalecha, among others.
