Bangalore(Karnataka Information):

 Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, emphasized the enduring value of education and knowledge at the 11th Convocation of Karnataka Samskrit University held at Puttanna Chetty Auditorium in Bangalore. In his address, Governor Gehlot remarked, "Education plays a crucial role in the improvement and perfection of human life. 'Ya vidya sa vimuktaye' signifies that education and knowledge lead to liberation. Once acquired, knowledge cannot be stolen from anyone."
Highlighting the significance of Sanskrit, the Governor said, "Sanskrit is the language of knowledge in Indian tradition. It is the soul of India and a repository of vast knowledge. Historically, Sanskrit was the language of discourse among scholars across the country and was used in all important matters."

Governor Gehlot underscored the universal messages conveyed through Sanskrit, noting, "Sanskrit has imparted the ideals of world brotherhood and peace. Messages like 'Vasudeva Kudumbakam' (The universe is one family), 'Krunvanto Vishwamaryam' (We make the whole world great), 'Sarve Janah Sukhino Bhavantu' (May all be happy), and 'Janani Janambhumi Swargadapi Gariyasi' (Mother and motherland are greater than heaven) remain relevant today. The inscriptions in Sanskrit above the main gate of Parliament House, the world's largest temple of democracy, remind us of our nation's sovereignty."

Citing scientific recognition, Governor Gehlot mentioned, "Rick Briggs, a renowned NASA scientist, highlighted the greatness of Sanskrit, particularly its grammar. NASA, recognizing its potential for computer software, established a dedicated department for researching over 60,000 Sanskrit manuscripts. Countries like the USA and Germany are conducting significant research in this field."
He also noted, "In Uttarakhand, Sanskrit holds the status of the second official language. It is spoken in Muttur, Karnataka, and remains a commonly spoken language in various parts of India. Many universities worldwide teach Sanskrit, and those proficient in the language have a promising future."

Governor Gehlot lauded Karnataka Samskrit University's mission, stating, "The University aims to standardize Sanskrit education, offer opportunities for studying and teaching Sanskrit, and enhance the quality of Sanskrit research globally. Honorary degrees are awarded to individuals for their outstanding contributions to society and culture. I urge all graduates to spread their knowledge effectively and contribute to national development”.

The convocation ceremony was graced by the presence of Minister of Higher Education Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, Chief Guest Prof. HV Nagaraja Rao, Vice Chancellor Dr. Ahalya Sharma, and other dignitaries.
