Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot Urges Agriculture Graduates to Propel India to Global Leadership

 Bangalore / Dharwad, 27 June,  (Karnataka Information): At the 37th Convocation of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot emphasized the crucial role of agriculture graduates in advancing India’s position on the global stage. He urged the graduates to contribute significantly to making agriculture-dominant India a world leader.



Presiding over the event, Governor Gehlot highlighted the national renown of the University of Agricultural Sciences. He stressed that a self-sufficient agricultural sector would dramatically accelerate the country's development. The Governor called upon the graduates to strive for self-sufficiency in their local towns and regions, underscoring the importance of environmental protection, addressing global temperature increases, and conserving water resources.

Reflecting on India’s progress since independence, Governor Gehlot remarked, "India has made unprecedented strides in all fields, and our economy is now the fifth largest in the world. The agricultural sector has played a significant role in this achievement." He emphasized the need for proactive efforts to elevate India to the forefront of the world’s developed nations, noting the essential contributions of farmers and agricultural scientists.

Governor Gehlot encouraged students to maintain a lifelong desire for learning, stating, "There is no end to knowledge. With the knowledge and skills acquired from this university, students can transform challenges in agriculture into opportunities." He expressed happiness over the increasing number of female students in agriculture, noting that their contributions have helped establish India as a leading producer of various fruits, vegetables, grains, and more.

The convocation ceremony was attended by Minister of Agriculture N. Chaluvarayaswamy, Chairman of the Recruitment Board of Agricultural Scientists Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Vice Chancellor Dr. P.L. Patil, and other distinguished guests.
