The centenary programme of the Malleswaram Cooperative Bank was held at Tripuravasini grounds on Sunday, marking a significant milestone. Inaugurating the programme, Bengaluru North MP DV Sadananda Gowda said, "Today feels like a festive gathering, with every resident of Malleswaram and all members joining in. This widespread participation underscores the immense popularity of the Malleswaram cooperative bank. It's a testament to how customers perceive our bank. I commend the bank's management for their exceptional stewardship, making the bank a favorite among all. During global economic turmoil, it's the cooperative banks like ours that have shown resilience. While many global banks faced meltdown during past crises, our cooperative banks stood firm. In 2009, global economists acknowledged that India, largely unaffected by the global slowdown, owed much to its robust cooperative banking system. India's strong familial financial practices, coupled with the unwavering faith in the cooperative system, contributed significantly."
Malleswaram MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan who was the chief guest of the programme reflected on the cooperative sector's pre-independence origins, emphasizing its ethos of equality and equitable resource distribution. He noted the humble beginnings of the Malleswaram cooperative bank, which started in a single room and has since grown into a symbol of hope and support for thousands. Despite facing numerous challenges, cooperative banks like Malleswaram have thrived, thanks to effective management. Dr. Narayan expressed his wishes for the continued success of the Malleswaram cooperative bank, a source of pride for all. "I am very happy to participate in this programme which is so well organised and I congratulate everyone associated with Malleswaram Cooperative Bank."
