Courses offered as per the NEP norms
It is a great opportunity to learn and study Sanskrit language, Literature and Shastras in the University, through the NEP (New Education Policy) system which is implemented in the University.
Accordingly, students can join the under-graduate programme and can procure the Certificate, Diploma and Degree by completing First, Second and Third year of the Under-graduate course respectively. 4 years of completion fetches the B.A honours and post-graduate and research programmes can be pursued subsequently, as per NEP.
Courses offered by the University in a nutshell
Ø Short-term Courses: it is a course spanning for 3 months or so for a short duration. Various Sanskrit texts are individually taken up and are taught in detail. Introductory courses for those who are not familiar with Sanskrit is also offered by the University.
Ø Yoga Therapy and Yogic Sciences: courses are offered in the field of Yoga and therapy techniques. Practical Yoga courses are also offered. The Science of Yoga is also taught.
Ø Samskrita Certificate/Diploma Courses: The courses are for one year and develop a general understanding of the Sanskrit language and literature. Students can quickly learn to read, write, and speak in Sanskrit language. It is a strong background to read the classics of Sanskrit literature.
Ø P.G Diploma: These courses are offered in the branches of Manuscriptology, Computational Linguistics and Yoga. The courses are advanced levels of expertise.
Ø B.A (General and Hons): Following the NEP, the Graduate programme is offered in general Sanskrit and Shastras. B.A (General Sanskrit) and B.A (Shastra) courses are offered. The B.A (General Sanskrit) course is offered in day time as well as in the evening.
Ø B.A (Evening Course) in Evening College: B.A (Sanskrit General) is offered in the evening time college. It is most beneficial for working professionals who aspire to pursue Sanskrit studies in the evening time after their work. The campus is well-situated with metro and bus facilities and with adequate security.
Ø B.Sc in Yoga: This academic year (2023), KSU is starting a graduate programme of science in yoga. Yoga would be taught practically, as per the Shastras and even from the perspective of science. It would be an advanced graduate course in yoga for science enthusiasts as well.
Ø Post-Graduate Courses: Post-graduate course (M.A) is offered by the eight departments of the University. The courses are of Sanskrit language and Literature, Manuscriptology, Vyakarana, Nyaya and Vaisheshika, Alankara Shastra, Vedanta, Yoga Therapy and Counselling and Yoga Shastra. Students would gain mastery in respective fields.
Samskrita Pathashalas: These apart, there are more than 30 affiliated colleges (Samskrita Pathashalas) of the Karnataka Samskrita University. These are of historical significance too. The syllabus of Samskrit literature, Shastras, philosophy and other offered by these Patashalas are traditionally crafted to make a student par-excellence in Sanskrit studies. Courses from basics such as Prathama, Kavya, Sahitya are taught which make a student well-versed in grammar, language and poetry of Sanskrit. Further, Shastri (equivalent to B.A) and Acharya (equivalent to M.A.) are taught in various branches of Sanskrit such vyakarana, nyaya, Vedanta and others. It is a matter of pride that many great scholars of past belonging to Karnataka and across India have graduated from the Patashalas of Karnataka. The following are the details of the courses offered:

Research Opportunities: For aspirants who have completed post-graduate studies, Ph.d course-work integrated is offered by the University. Post-graduates in Sanskrit can take up the Ph.D enrollment along with course work. Researchers can avail this research opportunity for Doctoral Degree.
Karnataka Samskrit University has recognized 23 research centers. These centers are epicenters of research in their own field of specialization. Research opportunities are open in these research centers. Many valuable books are published by these research centers. Many workshops, seminars, conferences and symposiums are conducted in the research centers.
Facilities of Smart Class and Computer Lab are available in the University. Bus Pass is formally given to Students. Training for competitive examinations related to Sanskrit such as NET and SLET is also given by the University.
