Bangalore, 26.02.2023: In a bid to empower the disabled community, the Central Government and State Governments have implemented numerous schemes. Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, urged disabled individuals to take advantage of these schemes in his speech at the 26th foundation day program of Samarthanam Trust.
Governor Gehlot emphasized that disabled individuals are an integral part of human resources and should be included in the development of the country. He applauded the Government of India's commendable work in creating an inclusive society and empowering Divyangjans under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister, citing the establishment of a Disability Sports Center in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and a Mental Health Rehabilitation Center in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh as examples.
The Governor also lauded the Vision of Samarthanam trust, which aims to positively impact the lives of at least 10 lakh Divyangjan. Samarthanam Trust has conducted several programs in livelihood, education, health, and sports to support disabled individuals. They have assisted over 18,000 Divyangs in securing employment in both private and government sectors, provided financial assistance to over 3,000 Divyangs for higher education, and offered school and residential arrangements for disabled students. Additionally, Samarthanam provides free residential coaching for the differently-abled community for UPSC and other competitive exams.
