Additional Chief Secretary (Forests, Environment and Ecology) Mr Jawaid Akhtar inaugurated Advanced Burns Care Centre at Prakriya Hospital on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Akhtar said, "I wish to congratulate Prakriya Hospital CEO Dr Srinivas Chirukuri and team for setting up this facility. Most of the burns care facilities are set up in southern Bengaluru. This new facility will be of greater help for those in north Bengaluru and even those patients from districts bordering Bengaluru. I am also happy to see that the Prakriya hospital has been set up in an excellent manner."
Prakriya Hospital CEO Dr Srinivas Chirukuri said that he was dedicating this burns care centre for the public. "We have an advanced facility and can treat all types of burn injuries. We have also provided an excellent ICU facility with operation theatres. If the need arises, we can also increase the bed capacity in the near future. As some patients require longer care, we are offering different packages at affordable rates."
Mr Prakash, President (Peenya Industries' Association) said, "Currently, there are only a few hospitals with this facility. Currently, we have to rush patients to Victoria hospital and with Prakriya being nearby, we can save the golden hour time. This facility will be helpful to lakhs of patients in north Bengaluru."
Dr Deevish ND (Chief plastic surgeon, Department of Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Prakriya hospital) said, " The initial few hours of fluid resuscitation is very important in burns patients and has a huge impact on the survival outcome. The next challenge is infection control which needs a strict protocol. Very few private hospitals in Bengaluru have a dedicated burns unit. At Prakriya, we have set up a separate burn unit with single patient rooms and a well equipped ICU to manage all severity of burns."
